HeyMadeWebBot
If you found HeyMadeWebBot in your server logs, this page explains what it is and what it did.
What it is
HeyMadeWebBot reads a website when a HeyMadeWeb user pastes its address to build or update a website for that business. It is not a search engine crawler and it does not wander the web.
It identifies itself with this User-Agent:
HeyMadeWebBot/1.0 (+https://heymadeweb.com/bot)
What it reads, and its limits
- The page it was given and up to 6 pages on the same site that are likely to hold business facts, such as about, menu, services or contact pages.
- Only public http and https addresses. Private and internal networks are refused, also after redirects.
- At most 4 redirects, 3 MB per page and a 10 second timeout.
- No JavaScript is run, no forms are submitted, no logins are attempted and no cookies are kept.
- Text it reads is treated as data. Instructions written on a page are never followed.
What happens to what it reads
Facts it finds are shown to the person who asked, with where they came from, and are used only if they keep them. Photos it finds are marked as not yet confirmed and are not published until that person confirms they may use them.
Contact
The company details and a contact address for these questions will be added here before HeyMadeWeb launches publicly.
